The Thirteenth Amendment officially banned and ended slavery in the U.S., describing those previously enslaved as having “peculiar institution”.The Thirteenth Amendment can be seen as a source for workers' rights because it gives workers some freedoms, such as the conditions in their workplace, and gives equality based on liberty rights. However, it does not say anything about equality of races, leaving space for segregation based on race and class in the future.
